Hi everyone, with covid going on I appreciate waiting times are out the window for stuff but I was referred to see a heptologist on the 2nd of December and haven't recieved anything from the hospital yet, not even a letter to say your on the waiting list or something to to acknowledge the referral.
I've checked my patient notes online and the doctor definitely referred me so I was wondering if anyone could share how long they waited during this period before being referred and seeing a doctor. I appreciate it's going to differ by trust but just an idea would be nice

Good news. In true sods law fashion I received a letter through an hour ago and I'm booked in to see a heptologist on the 10th of Feb so just over 2 months from the initial referral
Goid news, glad to hear you have it, at least you are booked in now 👍
Hi,
Your referral will be prioritised by level of need and urgency. Each Trust has different waiting times. You could perhaps call outpatients and enquire if your referral has been received and what the projected wait time is?
My hubby was referred to Hepatology 30/10/2020. They arranged a Ct Scan, Fibroscan and blood tests in Nov 2020. 3/12/2020, they called hubby to say they think he has Cirrhosis. He was originally given an appt 17/12/2020, but this was cancelled to 28/1/2021. Felt like ages away, but it's not long now
Good to see you've got an appointment Gbsteve, I'm getting pretty fed up or even blaise about appointments, ive got Cirrhosis and I've had one phone call end of May last year and one blood test in June the same, not a peep from anyone since then, even chased up my Hepatologist and still nothing. Just suppose if I've done this to myself, recovering alcoholic, male, single and no kids you get put back on the forgotten shelf it feels like.......but I cant blame them, even more so with the current climate I dont want to be a pain in the ass more than i have been in the past, all the best anyways 👍
If I were you I would chase again even if you just get in for the blood test. If he doesn’t make an appointment with you after that you can ask for your blood results. I know in what was my area of the Uk, just asking that question would have them jumping to see me, no idea what it is about giving you your results. Did you see a specific consultant where you can phone the secretary?
I was referred in August 2020 for suspected cirrhosis following repeated high bilirubin tests and low platelets. I had a private scan in August 2020 which showed slightly coarse outline and was suggestive of fatty liver and early cirrhosis. I have yet to see anyone since my NHS referral. I’ve had several appointments cancelled but I now have a Doppler ultrasound booked for 16/2 and a hep consultant appointment booked for 2/3. I was contacted by the hospital for blood tests (liver screen, hepatitis, LFTs, alpha-a, iron studies etc) in November. I have not been informed of the results. It has been 2.5 years since I gave up drinking and my doctor took from Aug 2018-Aug 2020 to refer me as he said my LFTs were normal or only slightly deranged. I have never felt so worried and feel lost in the system. I am a strong and resilient person but it is all so worrying.
Maybe the results are sat there for the hepatologist to go through with you as I think your normal GP won’t be anywhere near as knowledgeable. Can you phone the hepatologists secretary and ask if you need new blood tests?
