Hello everyone,
I thought I’d give an update on my partner who was readmitted to hospital with high blood sugar levels. He has now been diagnosed with diabetes. At one stage his sugar level was over 70! This is being treated with insulin in hospital. My partner is back to his old self and knows exactly what is going on now. The first time in weeks he has been like this.
I saw the liver consultant yesterday who in all honesty confused me and partner and put me on a real downer. He said that my partner is still in the danger zone and that his liver is stagnant and not improved. However, livers can repair themselves with good healthy diet and he may go on the transplant list if he doesn’t drink ever again and if he needs a liver, which he may not. But he’s not out of the woods yet. I asked my partner how he is feeling and he said he feels the best he has done in weeks and he is going to fight every step of the way. He has a good appetite and drinking lots of fluids (mainly water now to help with sugar levels) . He’s walking around, showering himself and resting as much as he can as they keep waking him for observation during the night. The jaundice and the Ascites are slowly reducing too. They have increased water tablets and investigating the dry cough he has.
How can he feel so well and the doctor say how poorly he is? Of course I’m over the moon that he feels so well but so worried at the same time.
