Hi Horse_riding1, I am not sure you are asking the right group of people as this forum is for those with liver issues. We generally don't see hematologists or have knowledge of that sort of thing.

I have seen a haematologist and a bone biopsy was never mentioned. As far as I'm aware it would be done if they were concerned about low platelets (that's all that's ever been mentioned to me), but there are many other reasons for it. I'm pretty sure it will be like other tests, it would be requested by your doc. You could always ask about it and they will tell you whether or not they think it is needed. In my experience tests of any sort are only done when the need arises due to symptoms/ blood test results that need further investigation. All the best
A bone marrow biopsy is a considerably invasive procedure, not without risk. It is only ever carried out if absolutely necessary, and can be justified as all other diagnostic tests have been carried out without having produced the required information. It is certainly not something to be taken lightly, and definitely not something which is done on request. If you are concerned that your haematologist is not investigating your symptoms thoroughly, they are the people to discuss this with.
Thankyou partner 20 I am about to under go one on Monday
