Hi everyone, i m french so excuse my english! I m 42 and my gastro found 10.2 on the fibroscan. It s due to 17 years of daily alcohol on the evening . He only old me i was f2 f3 , that if i drink even a bit it would be longer (to recover??!) And that s all.... i have to mâle a fibroscan in one year , have a normal life without drinking .... do yo you think it would be enough to stop fibrosis or even regress it ? Thanks a lot

Bonjour (sadly that's as far as my French takes me so well done on your English). Looking at the Fibroscan chart a score of 10.2 kPa sits still in F2 and not quite yet reaching F3. If you can totally omit alcohol from your life going forward then you would give your liver a great chance to recover and not worsen. Zero alcohol would be best because every drink is poison that you are asking your liver to deal with (and it obviously doesn't like it).

Hopefully your Fibroscan next year will reveal a marked difference.

Hi and welcome,

Here is our information on Alcohol and Liver disease:

Hopefully you can get some support to be able to manage your abstinence and your next Fibroscan will show a good improvement

Best wishes.

Weight management along with quitting alcohol will be a great boost. Try to cut your weight at least by 10% from wherever you are in next 3~4 months.

Thanks binjal! I ve already lost 6 kg in 5 months ( walking , stopping alcohol and stress) , hopefully it will be efficient , my blood tests are almost normal so my gastro was even surprised by the score 10.2 kpa, that s why i m a little depressed , i Had two days of a bit of alcohol 3 days before the fibroscan so i Wonder if it coule have increased the score but i read it have no influence . My mind is up and down , sometimes i think it s too late ans it s gonna be worst and sometimes i m full of hope and so happy to stopped alcool... thanks to you all this website is so interesting with full of kind people and it helps me ! Don t hesitate if you have other exemples of fibrosis improvement with abstinence ! Take care

It is not too late. Keep on going, no alcohol at all, healthy foods and exercise. It is amazing how the body can heal given some care from you 🌻
