Hello littellie, welcome to our merry band. I don't know where you would access a private fibroscan in the NW of Lancashire. I am sure most of the main hospitals there will have them.
Can I just point out that fibroscan on it's own is a useless implement, a fibroscan needs to be done in conjunction with other tests especially blood tests to see if you have ongoing inflammation (fibroscan can be highly inaccurate, giving a false high reading if any inflammation is present in the liver whereas this can be ascertained through blood tests).
If you have concerns about your liver then your first port of call should be your GP who can arrange blood tests and further scans on the NHS and dependent on the results thrown up or your history then they can refer on to relevant hospital specialists.
I know we are in strange times just now with hospitals being ever so slightly overwhelmed by other matters just now but doctors are still dealing with other/every day health issues.
A fibroscan shouldn't be your first or only 'go to' if you have liver concerns.
All the best, Katie
Good afternoon,
If you have a good indication for a fibroscan then your GP should be able to refer you to a centre which can do it. A fibroscan in isolation will not disprove or prove anything so as Katie says it should be done inconjunction with other tests.
