Hey I’m 19 and been drinking since 17 most weekends, is it possible to have cirrhosis already??? And is the yellowing in my eye a sign of that?

Hi Daniel26

Firstly, we cant really comment on photos as they can be distorted and we can't diagnose as we are not medically trained.

However going on my experiance on jaundice, my eyes did not look like yours and there was no question on whither they were yellow as it was very visible.

I dont have experiance with alcohol related cihrosis but with what i have read on here it takes more than 2 years of drinking unless underlying liver condition.

In saying all this if you have a real concern, speak to your doctor and reduce how much you are drinking.

Take care

Hi Daniel,

Welcome to our forum.

We would suggest that you read our publication about 'alcohol and liver disease' so you are able to understand the effect of excess alcohol on your liver.

No one here is medically qualified to assess your photo, if you are concerned then we would suggest you see your own doctor for examination and also a discussion about your liver worries and alcohol useage.

In the meantime, 'love your liver' and think about making some very important lifestyle changes.

Warm wishes

Trust1

Hi Daniel,

I hope you will look at this as an opportunity to educate yourself about the real dangers of drinking excessively, and seek help if you need to in order to change your behavior. It is very easy to get hooked on alcohol at your age, especially if you're very social and wanting to fit in. You can easily cut down your level of drinking by switching to a non-alcoholic drink after you have one or two, no one else will even notice and you will quickly feel a remarkable difference, in quality of sleep for example. I am most concerned that you are so young and your body and brain is still developing. You may or may not be shocked to learn that drinking affects your ability to reason even when sober and stunts your still growing ability to process your emotions. Think long and hard about why you're doing it and the people who have been the greatest influence on your developing this habit. Set some goals for yourself and break down the steps to achieving those goals so that your progress becomes a measure of what you can accomplish. Surround yourself with positive people. Seek counsel for depression if necessary, no sense trading one problem for another. I promise you that you will have no regrets about making the change. 😁

Not what you're looking for?
