Good Morning all,

I’ve recently been given a blue badge. I am thinking of applying for PIP. I know if you have 8 points or more pip mobility you qualify for blue badge. But my question is if you already have qualified for a blue badge, could that help towards the pip application??

Thanks

No it won't help that you have a blue badge (lots of people who even qualified for full mobilty under DLA have lost out on transfer to PIP) HOWEVER if you detail the conditions which affects your mobility when you complete your "How your disability affects you" form it might help you gain PIP points.

Thank you Katie, I did ask for the bb assessor’s report but they haven’t sent that to me. Would’ve been interesting 🤔

I wholeheartedly recommend the Benefits and Work website benefitsandwork.co.uk/ for help with completing your PIP paperwork and help with the whole process. You need to detail how your disability affects you for each of the 'descriptors' and back up with as much medical evidence as possible. The DWP will not contact your doctors (because that would back you up and that's not what they are out to do). You need to provide the medical evidence because otherwise they make their decision purely on what the face to face assessment person says and sadly they will often completely ignore what you write or even what you say - it's a horrid process, one which i've gone through twice with hubby plus subsequent renewals.

Thank you again Katie for your detailed reply. My consultant writes to me after every appointment I attend so have lots of letters from the hep clinic. However, I was also diagnosed with coronary heart disease back in 2014 ( unfortunately runs in the family, hence picked up early). I don’t have much letters from the heart clinic but all my conditions are always mentioned in the hep letters as a generic thing. 🤔 I have couple of other autoimmune conditions 😞.

Good afternoon Hope1011,

I can see our lovely forum members are sharing their experiences with PIP and blue badges and I have also included some information regarding benefits, entitlements and PIP.

Thank you Trust9 for the information. Unfortunately, haven’t been able to get through CAB last week. They number was either engaged or kept ringing and no one picked it up:(

C1JAM I am shocked at your comment!

Hi hope,

Definitely get help to fill the form in, it’s the wording they use that’s different from the wording we would use. My husband got full payment for both parts for 3 years, he had worked all his life, and it’s a big blow when you loose a wage due to disability.

Hi Yuiop,

Couldn’t understand it either😳

How can one be so disrespectful!!! I have worked for the past 20 years paid taxes. Still working but it’s getting difficult now. Husband working full time and paying taxes. And someone turns around, who doesn’t even know you. Calls you ‘Scrounger’ 😳

HI'

Go to CAB. they help you fill in the form, which is written to catch you out. I've done over 50 forms, and like MFI furniture you do need the experience,

Good luck, and con't give up
