I Want Help
No-one here is in a position to say why your SPGT (ALT) & SGOT (AST) are raised. Raised ALT & AST like you have are reasonably sensitive indicators that your liver is struggling a little. On the positive side they are only moderately raised so there's no need to panic. When my AST & ALT were raised they came back to normal after a period of healthy living by keeping my weight in the normal BMI range, following a healthy diet where I avoided saturated fats, eating lean meat in moderation along with plenty of vegetables & starchy unprocessed or minimally processed carbs as well as some fruit. I also kept active & got plenty of good quality sleep. I also drank coffee in moderation & avoided anything that might place stress on my liver such as non prescription medications e.g. painkillers.
A healthy lifestyle may be all you need to get them back into the normal range. If however you follow a healthy lifestyle & ALT & AST remain raised then you might have an underlying condition that has yet to be diagnosed that is stressing your liver.
I joined the forum because I had symptoms that I assumed were due to liver but after lots of tests it turned out that my liver was not the main problem & my abnormal liver values were due to a more serious issue which I'm now learning to manage & live with because there is no treatment or cure.
Thanks Edward I am eit Ursocol 300mg Medicine and getting to good response
Good afternoon hkhkgold,
No-one on this site is medically qualified to interpret individual test results.
May I suggest if you have ongoing concerns you discuss it with the dotor who requested the tests.
I have included a link to Liver Disease Tests explained which may help you .
