Hello Friends - I hope you are all doing as well as you can. You may recall, I was admitted to hospital last week for what they told me was Gastroenteritis and a Lung Infection. Having slept (mainly) since getting home on Tuesday evening I finally gathered the strength to do some bits around the house today which included some overdue filing of all my paperwork. I took the opportunity to read through my Discharge Note to find they found a ‘left septated renal cyst’ that requires further investigation and I was suffering from Sepsis. Does anyone know what ‘septated renal cyst’ is??
On a positive note, I now have dates for all my pre-assessment tests beginning on Monday!!

Hi
I'm sorry I don't know what it is!! Glad you've got those dates, now. Take care Lynne
Hi, Snorkers. Sorry you had to be in hospital. My father has a septated cyst. Also called complex cyst. As long as it doesn't get bigger, our kidney doctor said it was not a big concern. She did say that a urologist would need to monitor with regular ultrasounds. He has had this cyst for years, without complication.
Hi did it say anything else? Renal cysts have a scale of 1-5 depending on the size, shape and wall thickness. I don’t think it’s linked to your infection, most are found “accidentally “ on scans for another reason, you need to ring your liver dr and ask for more details, let me know what they say and I’ll try to be of more help, I used to be a renal nurse. Good luck x
I have a grade F2 cyst on my kidney, at first it was thought to be simple cyst but it grew a little over time, so I had a CT with contrast.
That showed it to be grade F2, which had small septated areas that needed watching. Which basically meant they needed to follow it, which they have for 5 years.
It never changed and I was just discharged back to the GP last month. If it needs investigating ask your doctors about a CT scan with contrast, that showed everything my consultant needed to know.
