I was diagnosed with AIH in April and am gradually getting used to the various bodily changes brought about by the disease itself and the drugs.
But one problem that won't go away is gout in my RH big thumb joint. it prevents me doing so many things like needlework, opening bottles and jars, driving (we have a LHD car so even turning the ignition key is painful).
My doctor has tried Colchimax and Naproxen but neither had any effect. Those people I know who have had gout (mostly in their toes) say it usually goes away after a few days even without medication but I've had it now for 3 months!

Sorry you are struggling at the moment. My Dad he gout on his toe very often, he was given meds to clear it which worked. I just can't remember the name of the meds right now, if I do I will come back to you. Take care of yourself Lynne
I've developed gout, but only post transplant. Apparently, its known that the anti rejection meds can cause it.
My last attack I was given Colchine by my GP. This brought the symptoms down much quicker than my first experience. Apparently, it's only effective in the very early stages of an attack. If you've had it for a few days before administering it's not really effective. I also take allupurinol everyday to help lower the uric acid levels in the blood.
