Too early to repeat GGT?

I had a GGT result of 70 on 9 May. Since then, 7 weeks, I have only had 4 days where I have had alcohol (planned events) the last being 14 June, and then a weekend away 2 weeks before that, and I was very careful. Only twice did I exceed 6 units a day (8, and 10.5). Altogether I have had 50 alcohol free days.

***My question is, do you think it’s too early to be re-tested? My GP said 3 months, but from everything I have read 8 weeks (by Friday) should be long enough to see if my liver has regenerated with a healthy GGT??***

I know I probably won’t see the same GP anyway so as long as I have a valid result that’s all that matters.

(And the silver lining is I have lost 7kg! Hoping my cholesterol is down too.)

Thanks

Hello,

There will of course be 'a result' if you have your bloods tested at 8 weeks rather than the 3 months your doctor suggested but whether this will be as useful as a 3 month one is open to question. In general it is better to stick to the recommendations your doctor gives you.

regards
