Scarring

Had transplant 2wks ago, will have final staples removed in few days. Any tips on reducing scar formation would be very much appreciated. When is it safe to start massaging oils n wot not into it, I realise that underneath the skin will take longer to heal so I don't wanna start fiddling too early

Best thing to heal scars is protein protein and more protein... I didn't use any oil on the surface and you can hardly see mine now...

And congrats 😘

I hope you are recovering well x

Thankyou 😀 I'm still in shock a little, cant believe how fast and painless it's all been! keep waiting for the catch lol. How long have you been healing? When I've scanned the web everything seems to talk about and show huge big CND shaped scars were as mine is a really neat quite small backwards L shaped one.

Glad to hear it's been quick and painless 😊

I am 2 and half years post, my scar been been great from about 6 months after I have a Mercedes yours is a lexus lol

The thing is you got it right first time we heal from inside outwards and the protein repairs muscles and that's where it will bug you for the first year, you have some strange sensations for a while whilst it is 😊

Simon,

Congratulations on your news, the most important thing is to avoid infection and keep the scar site clean.

I booked myself in at my local GP surgery and had my dressing changed every other day. The nurse will keep an eye on it and advise you.

I am 8 months post transplant and have the Lexus scar, I am proud of it.

Take care of yourself and best of luck with everything.

Mark.

Thanks, but the surgeon/liver dr removed my dressings before I left the hospital, and I get the remaining staples removed on Tues, they already removed every other one and I'm only on the 14th day after surgery 😀 it all looks healed on the outside, obviously cant be underneath but no sign of infection 😀

Nothing heavier than a kettle! A great start to your continued journey 😀

Hi Mark

I said similar to Paul on his other post. It’s really important isn’t it, and too easy to forget yourself or think I’m OK now so to hell with the 6 months rule! Bad move!

Which you're certainly entitled to 👍not my way of thinking though... showing my respect and gratitude will be ongoing, but hopefully not in an overly visual way 😀

Do you mind me asking how did everything go with the surgery and how has your recovery been so far?

My husband an AB blood type and may get transplant sooner then other just because on a rare blood type but his meld score is not real high yet. I just want to know from someone that just got a transplant how they doing?

Had it just over 2wks ago, was I'll for a while but got it only 3wks after listing. The recovery is amazingly fast so far and for me it's been more uncomfortable than painful, it gets better literally day by day, the hardest part is restricting yourself so you don't do too much, I get tricked into thinking I'm ok. All I can say is it has been nothing short of amazing so far 😀
