Post hernia operation

Hi all,

I've just recently had an epigastric hernia operation on my abdomen which I was really grateful to have considering 2 years ago during the last few years of my drinking (which caused it by retching) I was told wouldn't be possible because I had ascites back then.

However, due to all the lifestyle changes I made because of cirrhosis etc I became clear of ascites and am in reasonably good health they went ahead with the operation.

I came out of hospital 2 days ago and since coming round I've been in absolute excruciating pain with all the co2 still inside me from the operation. I'm bloated and to me it looks as if the op hasn't worked!

The surgeon said this would be the case and not to worry because once all the gas leaves my system I'll be fine and pleased with the procedure.

Trouble is.....the wind doesn't seem to be shifting and I'm in agony with it!

Was wondering if anybody else here has had the same kind of thing and how long before things got better and if their hernia went?

I probably just have to be patient but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Kirk

Good afternoon,

It may all just be the after effects of the operation but you should certainly check with your medical team/GP to make sure this is the case.
