Hi

I have had disturbed sleep for about 4 years or more due to pain. I usually get up and have a warm drink or sparkling water plus pain killers, if I still can't sleep then I put my headphones on and listen to music , or just get a book and have a read. Hot water bottle can ease the pain too. I've ended up on auto pilot cos of so little sleep. I've got Nash plus other things. I'm taking ill health retirement, suggested by my boss who has been brilliant!! Hope you feel better soon xxxx

I'm plagued with this as well Teds.

I try not to fall asleep during the day,no tea or coffee after lunchtime, do something during the day and read a book at bedtime. No blue screen googling...

It doesn't always work I must admit as 0300 is my worry time.

Best wishes

John

Hi Teds, I have gone from one extreme to the other. I spent my whole working life living on about 4 hours a day. Since having Nash anything less than 8 hours and I am exhausted. I also have HE, and one of the recorded side effects of Rifaxamin is a disturbed sleep pattern ..... not in my case. My rules are very straightforward and simple when I am tired, or my eyes start feeling heavy I go to bed, I will continue to attempt to watch tv but that is always an abject failure and I am asleep in about 5 minutes. I have a memory foam bed and I love it. I am lucky that my wife understands how tired I get so she doesn’t moan, this also allows us to lead a reasonably normal social life as if we go to bed late, I lie in until I am rested. This week we were racing at Chelmsford on Wednesday Night, went out for a Thai meal with friends on Thursday and today attending a Soul Festival in Barnet in memory of my best friends brother who died of cancer 12 years ago. Tomorrow I will lie in and make sure I’m up before the football. My only rule is when tired go to bed regardless of the time. It’s taken some getting used to, but it’s made a huge difference to our lives.

I sometimes wish I could get my husband to do this. He is one of those who seemingly thinks that sleeping in his chair or a quck nap on the sofa is better than just going up and lying down in bed.

Good to hear that you and your wife have found a way to deal with this that works well for you both.

Best wishes,

Mary
