I was sent to see a gastro consultant he said did I have any questions but then proceeded to talk to my husband When I last saw him he admitted that he did not know much about Pbc and this is the man that issued the prescription for urso!!!

Hello George1234 . My rheumatologist is like that. 😒 Can't get a word in edge ways. I intend to be more vocal next time. Take good care.

Hi, you aren't alone unfortunately. My dad has complex issues and although his liver is badly scarred, the medics have said a lot of his pain is gastrointestinal. His gastro consultant is very rude, rushes through and doesn't like to answer any questions. She has now discharged him before receiving the breath test results to see if he has gut bacteria problem and she outright laughed at me when I asked about natural ways to help gut health.
The health care system and profession completely ignores diet and nutrition, I will never understand why they find it laughable whenever we mention nutrition etc. The sad fact is we have had to rely largely on advice and research using the Internet and the odd liver nurse who takes the time to help us. I can't help feeling that a lot of the medication that they prescribe are acruelly wiping out the good bacteria, but because none of the consultants seem to want to discuss anything with us properly it's very difficult to know what to do.
