I had acute hepatitis A in January and my levels were ALT 5,565 u/l AST 3,914 u/l . 2 months later my levels are ALT 80 and AST 48. When should I have another blood test? Maybe 2 months?my levels before sickness was ALT 22, AST 18. What’ happens if the levels don’t go back to normal ? Does that mean I have a permanent damage in my liver?

Have a read at the British Liver Trust page about Hepatitis A, it is usually a short lived condition but it can take a few months to get over completely. In very rare cases it can go on to leave long term issues but it is rare.

Hopefully you'll soon be on the mend and those inflammation numbers will continue to go in the right direction.
