Does anyone have any knowledge about this supplement which is available on Amazon? Someone on here mentioned it a while ago but didn't get back to me. I've bought some and have been taking them for a month or two but have had some rather odd possible reactions to them.
Any ideas?

As I mentioned, I have been diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver and the hospital recommended me to this website, so I assumed it would have some credibility.
Ron with a diagnosis of cirrhosis you shouldn't be taking any random so called tonic purchased from the internet. You haven't got a clue what is in it or whether or not its safe and if you are having reactions from it then stop straight away as you could be doing your liver a whole heap of harm.
I can understand you reaching out for some sort of miracle cure but you'd be better of following the advice of your doctors, seeing a liver specialist dietician and looking after your liver through diet and exercise rather than some 'snake oil' from the net.
Well there is a list of the ingredients that make up the 'Elite Liver Tonic' on the container and some of them I recognise. Also I would have thought that Amazon would have to be reasonably careful with what they sell!
Amazon state the following regarding their role in the sale of these pills.

Recognising some of the composite ingredients sadly doesn't mean they are safe - nor do you know how they will interact with each other or affect your health. They are not tested in the conventional sense and may be very dangerous to your liver. If you look at the customer feedback there are lots of people on there who reported negative symptoms following use of the capsules. Some of which came on very quickly there have also been concerns expressed about the cleanliness and safety of packaging.
My hubbies doctor and dietician strongly advised against taking any supplements, vitamins, minerals and such like that they haven't prescribed as they can often counteract treatments and lead to negative effects on liver function.
Katie is right, more damage can be done using these remedies. If you type, "Elite Liver Tonic" into the search box above this page, you'll see there's another post there too.
Good luck, hope you can get a refund. If you use google maps, and type in 20-22 Wenlock Road, you'll see it's a block of residential flats.
Throw it in the bin and don't waste any more of your money. Sorry if that's not as helpful as others have been, but really most of these so called cures are anything but. Indeed many will do more harm than good.
There is no proof that any of these so called remedies do anything positive at all and we have members on here who have been told that milk thistle can infact harm the liver rather than help it. The BLT who host this site go with medical expertise and advise against the use of any so called herbal cures etc. Whatever you plan to use you MUST run it past your medical team.
I know that nature has many wonderful cures for things that we don't know about but until there is adequate testing and proof that these have a positive effect then you are safer to stay away and look after your liver through proper diet and exercise. There sadly isn't any (proven) miracle cure for cirrhosis.
Katie
PS. This is what BLT admin have previously said about milk thistle and other so called remedies -
The British Liver Trust does not recommend the use of homeopathic or herbal remedies for those with any liver problems as these have to be processed by the liver and can actually damage the liver and lead to severe illness.
More research needs to be done on the use and safety of such remedies and therapies.
If you have concerns about any prescribed medication or are considering using complementary or alternative remedies &/or therapies always discuss this with your doctor.
Hi ron. I asked a very similar question 2 yrs ago on the forum regards to milk thistle
I received immense response all with the same reply. You can obviously guess what it was
At that time i was not under any hospital untill last feb.
With Qe birmingham. So one of my questions was regards milk thistle..a big no no.. not due to the fact of taking it but no real research has gone in to it. Best thing you can do is eat plenty of veg and protein. Drink a good cup of coffee a day. Plenty of water. Fresh fruits etc.. much better than wasting good money on non tested supplements..linda
I agree with all you’ve been told! I have cirrhosis since last summer I have corrected my LFT’s with a well balanced diet all cooked fresh. 4 cups of tea/coffee is proven to be beneficial to livers! Golden liniseed is great for blotting from the lactulose! It sounds like you’re getting negative results (side effects) from these “supplements “ so stop now and try to flush your system with plenty of fluid and fresh meat and veg and fruit. Some people with normal liver function have adverse reactions to these supplements and your liver isn’t functioning properly so you can only be making matters worse!! I have chronic severe back pain but can’t take painkillers, so I just have to live with it!
Good luck Never Buy so called medicines or “supplements “ from the internet! If it’s safe to take you doctor will give it to you!!
Ron if it was as easy as taking a tonic we'd all be on it.Once your cirrossised there is no turning bk.(Had this convo with my dietitian, after seeing something similar on You Tube)
I personally do take Milk Thistle every day and have done for over 3 years. apparently Mediterranean countries do prescribe it. My consultant knows an has no problem with it, and I've had no side effects from it, My bilirubin is down to 12 and at one point it was about 50X higher than should be.(that was when I was still drinking)
I was diagnosed with stage 4 cirrhosis over 3 years ago and my liver specialist encouraged the use of milk thistle-I live in Canada. So I have taken it daily for 3 years and so far all my liver function tests have been well within the normal range. I buy it at the drugstore and definitely not online.
Hiya I take these and my Consultant looked at them and said they look very good and the ingredients in them is everything someone would take for liver failure. He was quite impressed with them.
