bloating and pain near liver

Hi I have bloating in the upper section of my tummy and its hard im worried i may be retaining fluid how would i find out if i am im also getting pain in my liver area not constant but more like a recurring stitch i have cirrosis of the liver caused by fatty liver any help would be gratefully recieved

Hi kaya12.

I have cirrhosis caused by alcohol. Have been living with this 10 yrs in June. Monday morning i woke up to ecactky the same symptoms that you have now.i was in so much pain i felt sick and i could not stand up right. I took myself to the QE liver unit as i was scared. I was kept in for 24 hours for test and scan etc.. my liver is now enlarged and inflamed. I was confused as i dont drink or smoke .but they did find an increase of fat . I was told last Nov that i had now got fat on my liver and would make my cirrhosis worse. I still have the pain but not as bad.

If your concerned then do what i did. Seek help from the consultant. I am now waiting to see a liver nutritionist. Have to drink plenty of water and stay off fatty or heavy food and to sit up straight as this takes the pressure off the liver. Good luck. Linda
