Hello,
I thought i would give you an update after all my panic in December.
So I have moved to Germany and I saw a GP about my pain under the ribs (both left and right) and what I thought was a petechial rash.
She did bloods and they were all fine apart from my GGT which was borderline.
She also checked my platelets (among tens of other things!) and she said my rash was not petechial.
We went through my drinking, symptoms etc... she thinks my liver is fatty because I'm fat and that the pain is due to it getting swollen and she recommended I lose weight slowly. She actually wants me to lose 0.5kg which is about 1lbs a month as she says diets don't work and I should just focus on eating better and cutting down on crap food and she says that is a change that can be kept for life.
I said that I wanted and ultrasound to make sure nothing untoward was going on and she gave me the referral saying that the outcome will be that I need the lose weight but she doesn't want me to be anxious so she's happy for me to have one.
I need to find an internist to do it (here it all works via compulsory subsidized insurance so you make appointments with private doctors and your insurance pays them in full).
Overall, I've learnt that: don't come to conclusions, if your liver is not sick having a few beers now and then is ok, I love the NHS but God things have got worse in terms of resources since I first moved to the UK in 1998.!
I'll keep you posted about my ultrasound results (once I have the time to make an appointment that doesn't clash with my job).
Stay positive and stay off Dr Google!
