Can anyone tell me if you can have liver transplant if you carry MRSA?

MRSA
Good question, I guess the MRSA would have to be treated and inactive before they could go ahead. I know that on admission for his transplant assessment my hubby had his nose and groin area swabbed for it.
As MRSA is often a hospital acquired infection and patients with a weakened immune system (as many with liver disease are) are more prone to it I would reckon there are a good proportion of transplant patients who have come into contact with MRSA pre-transplant.
It would pose major issues during the op if the bug was carried inside the body via the wound, cathetars and other 'pipe work' and post-op when there is a high amount of immune suppressant medication going on they body would struggle to fight it off.
Definitely one to run past the medics.
