Hello everyone,

A friend has been referred by his hospital consultant to the transplant unit at Kings.

Can anyone with any experience of Kings give him an idea of how long he might wait for an appointment ?

Jim

Thought I would cheer you all up with the view taking Lucy to the station at 7am this morning.

Hey, I went to kings,& to be honest, they didn"t really help! The surgon I saw for my tumors was good :) He would operate if needed, but at the mo it is to dangerous as my liver is covered in them! & they Aren"t cancerous! & I also have NASH very bad:( so he didn"t think it was worth the risk! The diease & tumors Are stable at the Mo! I have regular bloods, mri & see a gasto DR local to me! The hepoloist I saw was useless! & very rude! Waste of time in genral! I might be ok for you :) let me know how you get on :)

I have found Kings brilliant, in terms of appointments be prepared for a wait, but on your appointment you won't rushed, which I found good. They have always sent me a detail of the consultation and a copy to my go. They pushed on with tests and when I got worst they got on very quickly with tests and transplant assessment.

Hope your friend will be ok.

Lovely view by the way xxxx

To let you know - as I'm typing this, my friend is in intensive care recovering from what so far, seems like a very successful transplant !

I've been with Kings for 4 years they have been brilliant, ensured I understood everything that was happening and gave the options of asking questions.

Transplant assessment process was straight forward although a lot of information and tests in two days....

Have been on tx list for just over 10 months now. They have been great the whole time.

Good luck & cracking view!

I think it might depend on how well you are when you're referred. I was already in hospital and transferred to kings within about a week for assessment.

Hello all,

My friend has his referral appointment at kings in two weeks.

Quite quick I think.

Any advice for him ?

Thanks,

Jim

My wait time from assessment until transplant at King's was just over 2 months I think.

Don't worry too much about technicalities, they'll guide your friend every step of the way.

Hope that helps.
