Can liver recover from cirrhosis after completely quitting alcohol.

I was diagnosed with Alcoholic Liver Disease (ALD) 7 years back. For 7 years i haven't touched alcohol in any form. I just dropped it like a hot cake. Now, few minor ups and downs in GGT and total bili my liver enzymes and blood counts are normal. Now even after a long time quitting, I still have abdominal pain and by the way I was diagnosed with gallstones for which per the doctor's statement, it is risky to operate on. Now my question is will my liver recover after abstinence from alcohol. I have also changed my diet to whole wheat breads, soup, chicken once a week, fish every alternate day. No oil no spices.

You have done brilliantly. I very been a heavy. Drinker from my teens up to my forties. Then I got ill with my liver playing up I turned yellow an bloated the pain was unbearable. I gave up then for 21 months an fell off the wagon on and off. For a few months but was feeling awful. An embarrassed that I've let everyone. Down I been off it now for a year an my fibro. Scan came bk at 6.8 an I still get tired an I do miss a drink. But it's not. Worth killing yourself. For an up setting you loved. Ones I take my hat. Off to you seven years hope you have many more all. The very best for the future x

Thanks a lot for your well wishes and a suggestion to all alcoholics, just quit alcohol immediately.

Sorry I meant to say to ribus 60

My last scan showed a normal, healthy liver, in spite of still showing signs of cirrhosis 12 months ago. Three years ago I was in ICU and had been given six months to live. When I asked my consultant how this recent result was possible, he pointed out that the liver is a very resiliant organ and that I'd never been in need of a transplant anyway. However, he did also say that this is very rare and I've just been insanely lucky - so please don't just take my word for it!

what lifestyle changes did you do to regain a healthy liver. i had a CT scan in 4/2017 the my liver wad normal. Now CT this April 2018 show cirrhosis. Im only 41, going for liver biopsy this week. im not a daily, weekly or even monthly drive. only for special occasions and not many. Been having esophageal varices since 2011 when my speen removed ...the Varices bleed on 4/1/18 due to thePradaxa i was on. Then the took CT that shows cirrhosis of the liver. that’ why im wording if you went through lifestyle chages for your liver to be healtgy again

Thanks
