Fibroscan's results
Cirrhosis is the last state of liver damage and whilst it was always thought to be irreversible there is now scientific thinking that the liver can recover a bit even from some cirrhosis if the cause of the liver damage is removed or treated. For most folks though cirrhosis is a state whereby the liver can be in a compensated state where it continues to do some of its 500 different functions (but not others) or decompensated where it is really struggling to fulfil its major functions and it is then a case of treating with/dealing with the symptoms of a struggling liver.
Hopefully your medical team will discuss your result with you and advise what state they feel your liver is in. If you do have a diagnosis of cirrhosis it is generally protocol to monitor the patient with liver function blood tests, ultrasound scans ever 6 months (to check for signs of anything sinister popping up in the cirrhotic tissue) and dealing with symptoms.
For more information have a read at the British Liver Trust's excellent web page about cirrhosis britishlivertrust.org.uk/li... (I found it a really great source of information when my hubby was first diagnosed in April 2012). Don't scare yourself silly though, people can live for many years with cirrhotic livers. You will however need to address or have treated the cause of your cirrhosis to prevent further deterioration. Also, you will need to eat healthily and generally look after yourself.
Educate yourself about the condition so that you can ask sensible and relevant questions of your medical team. Write them down before you go to appointments and make sure you get the answers you need.
Wishing you all the very best.

Hi there, I have had cirrhosis 9yrs now. I hsve only recently been to see my first ever hepetologist .I too was told I was stage f4.and my fibroscan came back as 27 which is high , I was very worried and imagined all sorts..i have had loads of blood tests taken and I am due back on 9th may for a scan. My liver is compensated and had been working ok so far .as kate said it depends on what the cause was. Mine was alcohol. I did relapse when my dad passed away. I was alcohol dependant and was taken to hospital in 2014 with ascites again. Thank God I have had the support from my councillor and family. I changed my diet completely. The only problem I do have is insomnia and tiredness? If you can work that out 🤔.. it isn't the end of the world, take it a day at a time and see what happens at your next appointment 😊
It's Just as the others have said you have to address the cause of cirrhosis first and educated yourself ask questions don't hold back ask where they got the information where can you see it, how current is the info, and why not try something else etc.. In my case it was Hepatitis C , I went through the pills and currently the virus is undetected, Simultaneously I reached out to a dietitian and we came up with plan / menu on what to eat how to cook it when to eat , how much to eat, but commitment to major change in your lifestyle is the key
Good luck
