A University College London research team, working with the Royal Free Hospital and the British Liver Trust, are currently developing a one page checklist to help people in the UK with liver disease identify questions to ask their doctor during their outpatient appointment.
As part of this study, they are interested in finding out from you about the types of questions that you asked, or wanted to ask your liver doctors during these appointments. The survey should take less than 15 minutes to finish.
We do hope you'll take part, please click on the following electronic link for more information: opinio.ucl.ac.uk/s?s=46596 (please note this survey is only open to UK residents).
We are sorry to hear that you are so worried about your Mum. I think your first step would be to find out what they are as there are so many different things that they could be, and not all of them are bad.
Have a look at this section on our website once you have more information and there may be a specific page that helps: britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...
Hello there. I was wondering how cirrhosis of the liver is defined as 'Stage 1, 2 or 3' etc?
Thanks Ron
Dear Ron
Many thanks for your comment.
Cirrhosis is normally classified as 'compensated' or decompensated' and then graded according to the severity using the Child-Pugh score or the MELD score to assess the urgency for transplant. There is a table of information on the scoring on Patient UK at: patient.info/doctor/cirrhos...
If you have been diagnosed with cirrhosis then your specialist liver team should be able to confirm your stage. However, I don't think you need to put a grade of cirrhosis to be able to complete the survey.
