AST levels
What about ALT, ALP,GGT? It means the liver could be inflamed, but AST isnt just in the liver so it could be something else, thats why you need the other enzymes.
will reask on Monday thanks x
Not a lot on its own Jan-jan. You need the full liver panel to get a better idea of whats going on with your liver, if that's what you are being tested for?
I've recently had an LFT and found to have high ALT and GGT (again!). My doctor isn't interested and doesn't know why so I'm confused too.

Do you know how high your levels were and if any of your other levels were also raised?
Kind regards

Hi jan-jan,
A raised AST level can indicate inflammation of the liver but it can also mean that you have muscle damage elsewhere. Without your other LFT’s results it is hard to put this level in to context.
Also, Liver function levels can go up and down if you have been unwell recently with an infection or virus. I would wait to see what you follow up results are before worrying too much.
Kind regards
