Hi sharry - not quite sure what you mean by you are on a 'break' and therefore unable to contact any medical support. Do you have a telephone number for your transplant specialist nurses (sorry you dont say if you are in the UK) Even at weekends or evenings there should be an out of hours co-ordinator for you to call. Can you get to a telephone?

Co-codamol is weaker than tramadol so in theory I would think its ok to take but remember it has paracetamol with it so you must not take any other products with paracetamol. Is this an over-the-counter Co-codamol that you are thinking of taking?

Hi thanks for your reply, i just thought it would be easier to ask on this site i hate to bother the coordinators as i know they are busy i am now on monthly app so will ask when i go back .

Co codamol contains paracetamol and codeine. I have had a transplant and have been prescribed both medications. Bear in mind that excessive doses of paracetamol is harmful. Why you cannot obtain a medical opinion seems strange.

Hi Sharry,

I'm a bit worried after reading that. After having any type of transplant there is always 24hr support at the end of the phone or you could phone the ward that you stayed on and ask to speak to the consultant. I do not think we are ever on a break after having a major operation as this so please don't think of the situation like that, there is always someone.

With regards to the tablets, all and any medication or changes should go through the Consultant/team where you had the transplant. As they will know you and your full medical history and I've realised through this forum that each of us "are the same but different" copied from a kiddies programme but very true and they will be the only ones who can truly advise what's good for you.

Don't be afraid, pick up the phone. I once felt like that and because I didn't seek advice from the medical professional and ended up in Accident & Emergency, take it from me, A&E is not a good place to be in.

Good Luck Sharry xxx

I'm hear if you want to ask me anything

Thanks for coming back to update us sharry but you MUST get in touch with your nurse co-ordinator. Of course they are busy, they will always be busy, but their role is to support you post transplant and make sure you get the right medical advice. We can give opinion on here but we are not medically qualified to give you as good advice as your medical team. Hope you have been in touch with them by now.
