I believe Blood Group can make a difference to the waiting game.... if correct it might be useful for people to mention Blood Group when discussing waiting times ? (C) on list since Feb 14

They say he is blood group A

Also they do get some very urgent cases... The weight gain is a worry but he seems keen to lose it...

I feel for you. My husband gained lots of weight because of his liver problems. He was in a medically induced coma for 2 months during which time they managed to get him 30 kg lighter. He is B+ group and I thought it would take forever to get a new liver because of that.

They told us up to 24 months with an average wait of 9 months.

We had a new liver in 2 weeks. Now 12 months later he is almost back to his old self.

I wish everyone could get one as quickly but I know there are lots of people waiting. Keep your fingers crossed, stay positive and try to keep your life as normal as you can. When the call comes it will be all systems go so try to support each other.

We both wish you all the best. Xxx

Hello, I waited 8 days. The reason was I have a common blood group, also the donor was basically the same size and weight as me.

Dear All,

We do have an appointment soon with the Hep C consultant who is very supportive of the transplant... This may bring something positive... It is quite hard to imagine or expect he will change with a transplant... I think its because hes had HE for such a long time and I never knew it was that so treated it like it was just him and its part of his personality. Even now knowing it is HE still is quite hard to digest...

I have actually forgotten what he was like before... When i do remember anything, I cant believe this is the same man...

A very confused and bewildered Pear...
