Dear all,

My mother 64 is diagnosed with breast cancer. MRM done. Biopys says

INVASIVE DUCT CARCINOMA, NOS, GRADE III,pSTAGE : pT2N0.

AXILLARY : 16 LYMPHNODES ISOLATED, ALL ARE FREE OF TUMOR. (0/16)

Her tumor was tested (post surgery) for ER, PR and Her2-neu at Rajiv Gandhi, Delhi and the report said triple negative (HER2 as 0).

We took blocks for second opinion to Balaji Action, Delhi and the reports says ER-ve, PR-ve but HER2-neu as 2 to 3+ (equivocal).

Confused now as HER2 plays an decisive role in deciding the treatment.

is any of the lab above not 'standard'. what should we do next? experts pls suggest.

Speak to your Oncologist about the discrepant reports, he may suggest getting FISH analysis done on the specimen to get the Her 2 analysis. This will be the Gold standard, its an expensive test around 7-10K or so.

Yes, her2+ plays an important role in deciding the treatment. There are targetd therapies available which can be used for her2+ patients.
