Hello

My mom is diagnosed with breast cancer. I live in the USA and would like to treat my mom from my home in USA.

Has anyone have similar experience. Is it easy to get insurance for mom to get treatment in USA. If not, do any one know what the cost is.

Thank you for any guidance.

Sujathu - I am in Southern California. I suspect that it would be difficult to get insurance for your mother at an affordable rate, and that treatment would be fairly expensive. If I were in your position I would ask about care at the nearest reputable cancer center. A university center would probably be your best option. Often, if one does not have insurance, costs can be negotiated with the care center.i hope you are able to bring your mother to the U.S., as I'm sure that it would be easier for her to deal with treatment with your support.

Sorry to hear about your moms diagnosis.

It would be surely difficult to get Insurance once that its known that your Mom has breast cancer.

Currently there is very little information about the cancer and its stage.

She needs to get biopsy, scans, an operation, may be Radiotherapy, may be chemotherapy , and perhaps may be Hormone therapy or Targeted Therapy.

Breast cancer treatment may cost as little as $ 20000, if its early stage and you dont require radiotherapy or chemotherapy. If the latter are required, the cost may exceed $ 80,000 - 100,000.

It depends which centre you go to, and what therapeutic options are needed for her.

If you can afford those costs, surely from a patient perspective, having their loved ones close to them during treatment surely has a positive effect.

All the best !
