Severe pain, swelling, blisters, redness on the hand thro which chemo was given.

Last 10 days have passed though my sister taking antiboitics still pain is not completely settled. The blisters are there filled of pus, Has anybody gone thro the same.

Doctor she is applying magnesium sulfate & glycerine - since last 4 days and still taking antibiotics - but still the pain not settling down. And the wounds still not dry. How many days it will usually take to heal?

sorry for delayed reply. Yes, I came back yesterday.

Are the areas of pus filled blisters increasing? Usually, with antibiotics, all these settle down in a week or so. The important thing is, your sister's surgeon should assess whether the ulcer is healing or not; or is it increasing in size?. For pain relief, she must take adequate doses of pain killers. Also, there are special dressings for ulcers. I believe, your sister is already using that hydra gel or something like that. All these do help in rapid healing of ulcer. She may also take vitamin supplements, which help in healing ulcers.

If need be, do not hesitate to call me in the late evening, I will discuss it out with your sister.
