No travel Insurance

Has anybody ever been to the States without Insurance. Have tried all the usual companies that say they will cover you as well as the one who insured me last year, but no one will cover me. Pleas let me know about you experiences of travelling without insurance.

Hi there. I struggled to get travel insurance to travel to Bali, then to cruise to Singapore, Vietnam and Bangkok. I ended up chancing my arm and filled in the AA travel insurance application online. I then went to declare medical conditions with their medical section. I gave them the long list of: TNBC, Diabetes type 2, high cholestrol and high LFT. They asked what meds I was on and I told them. I took out the worldwide cover including USA. The insurance itself was just under €200 then the extra cover due to my health was an extra €260. You are looking at the guts of €500 for cover, however if you consider the expenses you would incure if anything went wrong, it is well worth it. With known health issues it would be taking a very big chance travelling without insurance. Wishing you all the best. I hope you are successful finding insurance. Lainey x

Hi,

I went to a company called Just Travel and they were great. I have heart and blood issues as well as breast cancer and all was fine with them and not too expensive. Give them a go!

I’ve just got cover from Insurance With. Reasonable cover for someone with breast cancer.

I really would urge against travelling to the US without travel insurance. Costs can be hugely expensive if you injure yourself at all.

Hi there, saw this post on facebook today from the White House support centre in the Midlands.

Cancer patients are struggling to find affordable travel insurance, even long after treatment is finished, according to a report from the City watchdog.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), says it will now work with the industry to direct people to specialist cover.

My husband has just taken out insurance for us, with Covered2go.

Worldwide, annual, multitrip, including USA, Canada & Caribbean, plus diving. Cost a total of £77. That is for anything unrelated to my cancer. There is an extra £66 to include anything to do with the cancer.

I have finished chemotherapy & radiotherapy, but will still be having 3 weekly Herceptin injections until the end of December & am also taking daily Anastrozole.

Everything was declared on the application form, so I feel confident that there are no loopholes.

I would definitely not go anywhere abroad, especially USA, without suitable cover. I really isn’t worth it. A have a relative who had a blackout whilst in America & his hospital bill was over &100,000. Luckily he was covered. I know of someone who had a dvt & their bill was £15,000.

It might not be a complication of the cancer, it could be anything that you need treatment for. I really wouldn’t risk it. 💕
