Hello. My gf has 4 masses in lower right breast. 10mm Grade 1 invasive Ductal carcinoma and another one says 15mm grade 2 invasive Ductal carcinoma. Can anyone please tell me what they mean
Breast cancer : Hello. My gf has... - My Breast Cancer ...
Breast cancer
Grade one and two are the stages that the tumours are at. Both sound as though they have been caught in the early stages. The sizes dictate the stages as far as I am aware. Inductal carcinoma is the type of tumour. If you go to the cancer society website, they explain it far more clearly. I wish you both well x
There are 3 grades, not to muddled with stage, grade 1 means slight changes to normal cells, grade 3 is most changed and more aggressive, this is what I had. Ductal means the tumour started in a milk duct and invasive means there are signs it has spread into surrounding breast tissue. Sounds alarming but after chemo, mastectomy and radiotherapy, I am well, 9 months on. Mine was 3cm before any treatment. Good luck to you both x
Thank you so much. She has 3 small lumps largest one measuring 1.5 cm. One of them is grade 1 and the other grade 2. Please help in understanding this. Thank you
Hi, when it was explained to me my consultant said there are 3 grades, 1 = early stages and slow spreading, 2 = still early but spreads a bit more quickly and 3 = a more aggressive and likely to spread more quickly.
It can get very confusing, as a grades and stages mean different things, the best thing to do is do some reading/researxh, this is what I did and understood it better after seeing my consultant. I found the Macmillan website very useful.
Good luck to you both, I hope the treatment goes well xxx
Speak to your breast cancer nurse who will be able to explain in more detail. It is all very daunting when the consultant goes through everything. I was advised by my Oncologist that if I wanted to surf the net for information only go to the Macmillan website as there is a lot of scaremongering sites.
Good luck to your gf and you as you go through this journey together...take each day as it comes... x
On a slightly different note, if your girlfriend needs to take time off work, speak to a McMillan nurse about benefits. There are lots of benefits available for people with cancer, and Macmillan will be able to tell you what you will be eligible to claim. Best wishes to you both
Sorry to hear of your girlfriend's diagnosis, it may worth keeping a writing pad and pen close by at home, then as either of you think of a question for the medics write it down, take it to appointments and write down the answers so you can both read and digest what's going in in your own surroundings and in your own time, remember your girlfriend will have a breast care nurse she can ring with any questions/queries, also MacMillan and Breast Cancer Care UK have Nurses you can both speak with, I'll keep you both and anyone else setting out on this cancer journey in my thoughts and prayers xxxx
Hi I'm sorry to hear about your girlfriends diagnosis but it sounds as though it's been caught early which is a major plus. Go to the Macmillan website it explains everything very simply and speak to her breast care nurse, she will have been given her number. You usually have to leave a message and they ring you back same day. Stay strong together x
