Do any of you have any experience in how easy it is to get travel insurance given that an unruptured brain aneurysm must count as a “pre-existing condition”?

Effects on travel insurance?
hi Spru.
I’ve suffered SAH (brain surgery) and have 4 aneurysms in my head. I like travel and I was afraid I won’t be able to get insurance.
AllClear insurance I’ve been using past last 4 yrs. they seem to be good. Always give me insurance (make sure you declare all of health conditions!!!)
Easy and good coverage just in case.
Irmina.
Thanks Irmina, that’s reassuring
Hi Spru, yes please ensure you declare your aneurysms, it will be more expensive but at least if anything goes wrong you will have cover. My last holiday abroad turned into a nightmare in a Majorcan hospital, while they poked and prodded me, never to go abroad again, I’ll stick to good old Blighty and the nhs I felt like it was in the dark ages and I was one of those circus acts, horrendous take care love Alice xx
I got travel insurance easily enough with Allclear travel insurer.I have a list of health conditions, including an upruptured brain aneurysm and late stage cancer.
They seem to cover most/all? Conditions. It's not cheap though. It set me back £2k for worldwide travel last year. If I took it out again I'd ask for a quote just for the 3 weeks I was away. The reason being that if you develop any other conditions during the time period covered you have to let them know. Then they'll add on another lump cost to cover that condition.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes x
Th situation has got much better over the years. Now there are insurers that will insure those with health conditions (you can look them up on the internet). Years ago I used to have to agree to a clause about them not covering any emergency care related to my particular condition.
