I developed pulsatile tinnitus for about a month just before my aneurysm on the carotid artery burst. I had to have a clipping, I had two aneurysms and he clipped both of them, he said that coiling wasn't an option. I am not sure why. I made a full recovery and have had no problems since.
Thanks for replying to my post. I think we are in the minority having this problem with the carotid.
I am slightly worried now as thought they didn’t really rupture in this are but I have an annual MRI on Monday so guess my surgeon will decide from there. ( I had one successfully cooked in May 2018)
Where is you hospital? Mine is the Walton Centre in Liverpool.
Think they probably couldn't coil as it was already a ruptured. Dont really know.. so glad you made a great recovery
I was in Kings College Hospital in London, I live in Kent. It was 4 years ago now and I have had no more incidents and they say my brain is clear no more aneurysms at the moment anyway.
I didn't really know anything about it until it ruptured and I ended up at Kings, he said it was the carotid and I didn't know they weren't meant to rupture in this area. I didn't even know I had one. There were two and he clipped both of them.
I am fine now, get headaches occasionally but nothing major, I think I was really lucky, the Consultant said it should have killed me! and I think he was surprised that I made such a good recovery. I was there a month and then home and back to work about 9 months later.
I hope all goes well for you too. Maybe it depends on the size of them, apparently mine was very large
