Missed pills!!!

i had unprotected sex with my boyfriend last Monday and i was on my last day of my break from my combined pill but wasn't bleeding anymore, the next day on the Tuesday evening is when i had to start taking my new pack so i did, on the Wednesday night i also took it but on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday night i was away visiting my friend and forgot my pills so didn't take them (but didn't have sex again) could i still be pregnant even though i did have unprotected sex but the two days after i did take my pill? could there still be a possibility? i have been feeling a bit sick and lower back pain but i dont know whether this is just a coincidence

Hi there

If you have missed more than one pill you should take the last pill you missed now, even if this means taking two pills in one day

but leave any earlier missed pills and

carry on taking the rest of the pack as normal . Make sure you

use extra contraception such as condoms for the seven days after the missed pills.

If you miss two or more pills in the first week of a new pack again and had unprotected sex in the previous seven days you should take emergency contraception.

I would suggest taking a pregnancy test 3 weeks after the unprotected sex to check if you're pregnant.

Hi Katherine, yes this is a great help thank you, should i still take a pregnancy test in about 3 weeks even though im going to take one of my missed pills as well as my normal pill on the same day from now and making sure i now take them everyday? and as im taking them leading up to take the test and i turn out that i am pregnant is it dangerous to be on contraception if you have conceived?

Hi- yes I would still take the pregnancy test 3 weeks after the unprotected sex. You are okay to continue taking your pills. No harm would be done if you did find out you were pregnant. If you continued with the pregnancy you would then need to stop taking the pill.
