Hello, I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis in January and i have been having backache for about 18 months, the doctor did not say anything about the backache but referred me to an osteoporosis clinic at the hospital, he said I'm high fracture risk but I have not fractured anything yet, I'm on alendronic acid once a week, I just wondered if anyone had any idea what could be causing the backache, which is a constant pain, thank you

Backache

I m afraid backache is a common symptom I use pain patches which helps and exercises
I must say I always have backache since I was diagnosed 6 years ago, although I did have a compression fracture in the beginning and a couple since which are incredibly painful until healed, but always seem to be left with low level backache, best of luck x .....probably should add was on AA for 5 years ,now have just started teraparatide daily injections for 2 years.
I have been suffering from low backache. Had xrays done and was told I had not fractured but I had bad wear and tear of the spine and given three exercises to do. It has improved somewhat some five months later. The actual wording was "advanced degenerative changes (wear and tear) throughout the spine".
I was not surprised to receive this result but relieved to hear there were no fractures.
What were the exercises, Kaarina?
I find trying to engage the core all the time, especially when leaning or lifting or sitting upright helps a lot.
The Cat and Camel Pose. Supine bilateral knee hugs and Lumber rolling stretch- knee rocks. Google them and it will tell you how to do them. Not sure if, with OP one should be doing the first and third exercise but I do them. Medics appear not to take other conditions the patient has into the equation when dishing out exercises. Sigh!
