Radiofrequency Ablation for pain control - Osteoporosis

The consultant has suggested that I try Radiofrequency Ablation. I'd like to hear if anyone has had this treatment, I know everybody is different but I'm interested to find out how it went for you.

I've been in pain now for 5 years since first falling downstairs and breaking several vertebrae and just when they were improving and I was feeling as if I was getting my life back, I was turning to grab my bag off the backseat in the car and broke another 3.

I've had various injections in the past with mixed success, just before Christmas I had several down each side of the vertebrae and it was bliss I could lie down comfortably without having to relax into the pain. I was able to travel further and walk further. But unfortunately they wore off and 4 -5 weeks later so I'm rather stitched to put it mildly!!

I'm surviving with the help of Oxycodone (morphine) and Duloxetine, Amitriptyline

As many here say, I went from being fit and healthy, I very rarely went to the drs, to a knackered old lady in an instant!!

If you've had Radio frequency Ablation and are happy to share I'm really interested in hearing how you got on

Xx

Goodness, you poor soul that sounds ghastly. I take it you're not from UK as you've paid for them. Thanks for answering, I hope you can find someone to help you. I rarely had a headache so that's something I am extremely thankful for! Take care xx

Has no one else been offered this for treatment for chronic pain caused from fractures?

No, Im in the U.K. and was offered Naproxen then pretty much nothing after that.

When I fractured my sacrum in 2021 I started taking Naproxen which made me very ill so I had to stop and I ended up with a mixture of OTC meds - codeine, paracetamol or ibuprofen, whatever I had in the house at the time.

Then I bought and had amazing success using a PEMF mat and I went from my routine of taking two full strength paracetamol followed two hours later by the same of ibuprofen all through the day until I had taken the maximum dose of both to just the odd paracetamol.

There are a few contraindications to using PEMF mats and they have almost doubled in price since I bought mine but I can definitely recommend it. You have to be able to lie flat on your back on a hard surface - I put my mat on the floor so you have to be able to get down that low too.

A rheumatologist I spoke to around that time read my MRI report and couldn’t believe I was managing with paracetamol but really it was the PEMF mat that was doing it for me.

That's really interesting, I did to do a quick Google as I've never heard of them before, I've listened to a youtube video and will do more research about them. Getting up from the floor would be a problem and lying flat is painful, but it's almost at the stage now that you'd do anything if you thought it'd work!!How did you find out about the treatment? Was it recommended by someone? I'll ask the Chiropractor and see if he's familiar with them. But it Def sounds interesting, especially if it can improve bone health as well, although if it did I'd have thought it was a relatively cheap solution for the NHS to our problems!!

Do you use it everyday and how long would you be using it for?

Would you mind telling me which PEMF mat you bought? There seems to be so many. I already use a near red light therapy belt, which I have found beneficial . Thank you

Thanks so much for replying, I was expecting more folk to reply so feeling a bit worried as I'd like to speak to someone who's had it done. I was wondering how common it was and how often it was offered .Have you got a date yet?
