I have been reading some awful stories about how much pain they are in when they fracture in the thoracic spine, does everyone get like that after a fracture with not being able to get out of bed and even sniffing etc they are in agony, I have just been dx with mild to moderate wedge compression fracture of t12 so looks like I am going down the same path and will be in agony, any thoughts please.

thoracic spine fractures
pain totally needs medication, my Mum was only able to get it when in hospital it seems.
i asked the endo if mum could have patches, say,
endo said no.
i have been told that a g.p can prescribe strong pain medication
15yrs ago I had 2 thoracic wedge fractures after an accident. Initially the pain was rough esp in the car on potholes/bumps etc i used to prefer to walk and I couldn't put a handbag over my shoulder so used a shopping trolley for a while lol I remember taking prescription co codamol and ibuprofen every day for months. Obvs I also then needed omeprozole and laxatives to counteract side effects of the pain meds. Sorry i cant remember how long pain was bad but it did get slowly better week by week. Fast forward to today and I still take the occasional codamol when my back gets "set off" by certain activities but it's mostly OK. The physio I had post break was rubbish and I feel that might be to blame for my current issues, at mo I'm thinking pilates might help so am looking into that. Gentle exercise deff helps once you are able but you must check this with the doctor first. Try not to worry too much, some people get wedge fractures without realising what they've done. My friend has some xrays after a fall and they found some old wedge fractures she didn't know she had, I'm sure you might have been reading about the worst case scenario's. Take care and speak to yr gp about yr worries x
Recovering from my 1st experience of spine fracture. A supply GP put me on zapain, contains codeine and paracetamol. This is helping me through the pain. I've been lucky in that the physio I was seeing at the time put me on the list for hydrotherapy to help my balance and walking with a straight back. Wonderful. Good luck.
