I can’t offer advice or comment but I’m sending you a big hug…… not I hope you are ok as it sounds like you have gone downhill in recent months. Take care xx
Where are you based? There might be some exercise classes locally that you can attend that are suitable. Often they are run by physios. As long as you don't put any weight on your back, there are other exercises you can do such as walking. Might be worth self-referring to a physio or asking your GP to refer you. Take care
I have 10 spinal fractures now, have had kypho on some of them, had two of those re-fracture, and currently 2 are not kypho'd, and 8 discs are at different stages of rupturing. Not a pretty picture. I exercise every day, walk a lot, with hiking poles for help with standing up straight, and balance, they do help me walk longer. I do floor exercises and wall exercises. There are chair exercises as well, gotta keep the legs strong. It's difficult for any weight training, I can't get to a point that doctor thinks it is safe. Walking is also good for the soul, helps to get out and about. I understand you are wheelchair bound, but there are folks in my area that are out in the wheelchair, getting fresh air and sun...it all helps. But at times it is a real challenge mentally and physically, it's exceeding painful.
I know its hard work I have been diagnosed with L5 t12 recently had x-ray and it says mild to moderate wedge compression fracture of t12 no other fracture demonstrated, I get pain in thoracic upper back after doing everyday things I know it will probably get worse but what can you do but just try and keep going.
Exactly, keep moving, keep doing what you can. I also do a floor or couch spinal decompression exercise. Simply lie down on floor, or couch, and put legs either on the upper couch if the floor, or put three pillows under knees to feet, get a 90 degree angle, low level pillow under neck, and relax for 10 minutes. This helps to keep the spine decompressed, and get the fluids moving again. Mine seem to get worse, then start healing, then get worse again...I've been healing since Sept 18, 2022....still have edema on the spine. Stay positive, every day, when you go negative it all seems so much worse.
I wish people realised we can’t do exercises. I had someone tell me last week that if I don’t walk I won’t be able to. I can walk but not very far. I end up with my back going over more and more and being in a lot of pain. I can’t carry a handbag for long and I don’t like pulling my shopping trolley for very long. People think because I’m on my feet I can do things. I get quite upset when they say things to me. Doubting what I’ve said.
