Hi Radars. An excellent idea to find a chair which supports good posture and is as comfy as posible for you. I have changed my furniture although mine isn't orthopedic. Well it may be....it just doesn't say so. I find it has helped a lot. Try lots of diferent types of chair before you buy.

Not sure what type you are thinking of - there are lots - but my husband bought one of those HSL reclining chairs when he was needing his hip replaced. It is very very comfortable and he loves it. He got the type that ‘tips you out’ when you want to stand up but that feature is very slow - definitely not an ejector seat!

You really do need to try them out though to make sure it is the correct size for you. He is over 6ft tall, I’m 5’2” and although I sit on it from time to time it is too big for me and I don’t find it at all comfortable around the neck and shoulders. I find a proper wing back seat more comfortable - haven’t got one but I sat on one at an elderly friends house and loved it.

When we went to the store to buy in theory it looked like he was being measured for a made-to-measure chair but in actual fact I think they come in small, medium and large sizes- I’m not sure how personalised the measurements are.

It might be worth speaking to the occupational therapy department at your local hospital for advice about what would suit you best.
