Excellent session and good news - REMS shows that I don’t have osteoporosis even though DXA says I did! I am osteopenic which is what I suspected and why I wanted the scan.
Advice was to manage with diet and exercise which I am all in favour of and no intention of ever going on the drugs. Dr was very surprised that my scores were so good considering my medical history as amongst other things - I went through early menopause 36 years ago, never had HRT, was a smoker in the day - gave up 30 years ago. On the positive - I have always eaten very nutritious diet and exercised, despite muscle weakness and will continue to do so.
I am considered low/medium risk at 72 with Z score = 0.5, T score -1.5. Overall I am really happy and reassured by the results, understand a LOT more about the risks and have a clear plan to manage and monitor - next scan in 3 years.
In the meantime I will increase use of Marodyne to 10mins x twice daily. Even my husband is now using it!
Go well.

A visit to Nick (sorry I’m assuming that’s who you saw) is money well spent isn’t it. Not only is he very reassuring but you don’t have to wait weeks until you get your results.
A month ago and my top endocrinologist said the REMs scan is better than the dexa and he was shocked by how much info it gives and he said my real numbers are closer to the REMS and that i should stay on my medicine but “ do what you can” regarding the dose like I am on Tymlos and he wants me to get at least 4 clicks per day
Hi CDreamer. That was interesting. Who did you go to for your REMS please? And what is Marodyne? Like you my DEXA showed osteoporosis and I'm turning down the drugs which I feel I'm being pressured to take.
I had to wait 9 months though to get an appointment. I saw Nick Birch who was excellent and I came away with a clear lifestyle management plan including nutritional advice.
Marodyne LIV is low intensity vibration therapy which is worth looking up and may not reverse ageing process but helps to reduce the decline and build stability.
