HeronNS suggested I repost this video here. This doc provides a wonderful overview of the causes/risk factors for OP as well as prevention and natural ways to address it. Hope it is helpful.

I stopped watching when he got to the bit about low carbohydrates and grains, high fat diet. It doesn't sound at all healthy to me! The Mediterranean diet is considered healthiest, including for osteoporosis, and that includes a limited amount of fat and fair amount of grains: nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/w...

Not every diet works for everyone Met00 . The Mediterranean Diet you linked to advocates basing meals around starchy foods and carbohydrates like bread and pasta which is verboten for someone like me who has a gluten sensitivity. A lot of research into OP indicates that it stems from malabsorption of needed nutrients due to gut issues. Carbohydrates basically turn to sugar in your body and feed bad bacteria in your gut. I was diagnosed with probable celiac/gluten sensitivity when I started having thyroid issues and I believe my osteoporosis is also a result. Following a low carb diet has helped me to heal my gut so I can better absorb the nutrients needed for rebuilding bone. Dr. Berry discusses fatty meats as a way to incorporate more collagen into your diet which is -- as he says -- a necessary building block for bone. He also advocates lots of leafy greens and cutting out bad/unnecessary carbs (like those found in junk and fast foods).

It's true that carbs aren't good for everyone, but a high fat diet isn't usually a healthy one, unless you're doing a huge amount of exercise to burn it off.

Thanks - very useful and well presented. I knew most of this, but Dr Berry 's description of the concepts and processes brought everything together, making them easy to visualise and understand for people at the beginning of their bone health journey. I've subscribed to his future posts😊
