HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Trying to find out if anyone has had experience of using the Spinomed back brace.
If so how have you got on with it?
I have been given one but feel apprehensive about using it as I have been given contradictory advise from consultants and physiotherapists. I have been told not to wear a back brace after fractures have healed as this will cause the back muscles to weaken.
If those of you have never heard or read about this type of back brace then please have a look into it as it claims to actually strenghthen the muscles and improve your posture.
Would welcome any thoughts and opinions.
I have much pain at the moment and it also claims to help with this.
Thanking you all in advance.

I would be interested in knowing more about it too. I still have pain after a T12 fracture 6 months ago. The pain is brought on when using my arms after just a short time, so it's a catch 22 situation; I need to strengthen my back and upper body muscles but can't do any exercises because of the pain.
Did the disc break after a Prolia shot(s)? I have Degenerative Disc Disease and my spine had to be totally fused. I have that same pain across my shoulder blades. It is debilitating, and constant - every time I use my arms for anything. The Spine Surgeon does not recommend physical therapy but accupuncture. Don't know if that would be available to you, but you might try it. Has the break healed and you are still in pain?
I haven't taken any bone meds yet but since this fracture and the dexa showing further deterioration in my bone density I have to make a decision about treatment.
I don't get pain across my shoulder blades, it's in the area of the original fracture, which is about where the bra strap sits. I also get a pain at the bottom of my right shoulder blade which feels like nerve pain. Very recently, I've started to get a strange tightness or pulling feeling in my lower spine and aches around the coccyx.
I do wonder if the break healed properly. My GP practice is awful. I had to pay for a 30 minute appt with a rheumatologist because I couldn't get an nhs appt for many months. I hoped he would be able to give me some good advice but I think I knew as much if not a little more, as him.
I am wary of any physiotherapy. I doubt I will get acupuncture on the nhs. Since my fracture I've had to give up my business so I've lost my income.
I am in pain every day and can do very little. Really not sure what I'm going to do.
I have an appointment with my gp. on monday so will see what his advice will be.
I tried it for a short time but my back began to hurt.
Think perhaps I kept it on a little long for first attempt.
I have not heard of this and I have slight scolosis but I think any back exercises can help I did a few though they are boring as hell I did them and I did stand up stronger you feel better if you work on the muscles in back. strong muscles strong spine.
I have used a Spinomed back brace, better than nothing and helped me to walk and stand. However it kept slipping up on me so I would need to re-site it / pull it down so the physio suggested a spinal corset, this is a made to measure garment, which I wear basically 10 - 12 hours a day.
One of the reasons I was told it was best to 'try out' something like the Spinomed back brace first was to see if it helped and also at that time I still had a lot of breath control difficulties (due to the spinal fratures), then if that helped and was enough great, if I needed more support then I could work on regaining breath control before getting a more form fitting and supportive corset.
Spinomed website is helpful and I phoned them for advice to see if they could help about it slipping upwards.
I still do lots of strengthening excises daily and have (at last) accessed an intensive block of physio and hydro all of which is greatly helping. The main difference I found I could hold my arms away from my body as in order to stay ‘upright’ I have to hold my arms pinned to my body!
Thank you for the information, before I was given the spinomed I was given a lumber brace.
Being of small build it was too big for me so I did not really benefit from it, although when I had my last fracture,( wearing 2 thick jumpers, and with the help of my husband with putting it on!!!) I did find it to be a god send along with very strong painkillers I was at least able to move.
You seem to be progressing very well and should be very proud of what you have acheived.
