High Blood pressure - Medical recommendation

I did a 24h blood pressure monitor and my blood pressure was above the target (day 139/88, night 120/75, total 133/84).

My consultant recommended to take Ramipril 2.5mg once a day. What do you think?

Should I try first with daily yoga/meditation sessions? Any alternative medicine or more natural options?

I have a healthy diet (eat loads of vegs and low salt). I don't drink. I don't smoke.

Thank you in advance.

Sorry, forgot to mention... I have been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease.

Ramipril gave me an irritating cough and I stopped taking it after a couple of months. It didn’t help my bp numbers either.

BlueStar, this is way above our pay grade! Polycystic kidneys will affect your BP. Following a good diet is a given, as is a good exercise programme, but on this forum we can hardly tell you to go against your consultants advice.

I would think follow medical advice that's all any of us can do , I take 7.5 my ramipril, the original 5mg didn't work for me but the bigger dose brings my BP down.

As you have poly cystic kidney disease I would be led by your consultants recommendation. I have taken Ramipril 10mg for many years and never had that cough which is a side effect. The cough is not a problem for most people when your body adjusts to the medication. The readings of your blood pressure and quite good and not dangerously high but given your condition it’s probably best to keep it controlled . Ramipril is seen as a cardio protective drug. 🍀🍀
