Hi I am on 10mg amlopodine and 25mg losartan and have started going very hot every afternoon on my face, neck and chest. After a few hours it cools down and then I cant get warm. Could it be the blood pressure tablets? My bp is still 160/92 in the evenings.

It’s difficult for us non-medics to make a response as everyone reacts differently to medication. But in your position I would certainly chat with your pharmacist as they tend to be more clued up than doctors on side effects and also combining one therapy with another. But perhaps you need to try these tabs out for a few weeks? Don’t know how long you’ve been taking them.
Yes, and most likely to be due to the Amlodipine rather than Losartan. I say this as when I was put on Amlodipine it caused severe flushing of my face with added swelling around my eyes. My ankles/lower legs were even worse. Three months later I stopped the Amlodipine and all the swelling and facial flushing resolved, However, I left it too long and the red inflamed areas around my lower legs became a permanent fixture!
Thanks for that. Think I need to have a chat with a dr, even though thats hard at the moment!
Why do you have to take both tablets?
My blood pressure was still too high on amlopidine so they put me on ramporil which I had side effects with and came off that then put me on losardine. I think the drs were meant to follow up but I havnt heard anything.
so typical of docs. put u on the rx merry go round & just leave u there. amlidipine made my face flush after 1 pill & i nvr took another one. i take losartan but also drink hibiscus tea, beet juice, take magnesium. u might try some if these natural things along w the rx's but do a LITTLE at first to see what effect it has. u dont want bp to go too low.
Thanks will look into that. Hibiscus tea sounds nice.
Hi aliens2. Celtic has said what I was going to say about flushing. I've had this on Amlodipine - side effects affect some of us in different ways and actually, so does the brand of the drug you take, one brand of Amlodipine gives me different side effects to another brand but after saying this, check with your pharmacist anyway to be on the safe side. Good luck.
My Mum suffered with being very warm in the night when on Amlodipine and is always saying she is shivery during the day, she also had ankle and leg swelling while taking them. She's now on Felodipine, she doesn't suffer as much with being warm in the night, still got slight swelling of feet and ankles, bp down to a better level too. Hope you get sorted aliens2, Mum is on her third bp med because of side effects, along with Atenolol and Ramipiral.
What dose amlodipine was your mom on?Can I ask what her age is?
Thank you
Hi Ling, I think it was 5mg. She's now on Felodipine, the doctor has just reduced this to 2.5mg because her feet are swelling. We've obviously got to monitor her bp, and speak to the doctor in a weeks time. My Mum is 86. Seems to have been a long journey getting her bp down with no side effects from her meds. Good luck with getting your Mom sorted.
I get cold feet at night and have been wondering if it is the amlodipine. I'm also wondering if it's affecting my kidneys because my GFR is below 60.
