Is light headedness a sign of high blood pressure? I am currently getting readings of 148-151/92 and have just started the monitoring process. Last year it averaged out at the desired figure so no action taken but now I think I will be needing bp tablets-anyone know of ones with minimal side effects?

Light Headed-High Blood Pressure?
Hi I get dizziness too, a couple of times a week, usually in the afternoon after eating. My GP to didn't seem overly concerned. My readings are similar to yours. I find they fluctuate wildly! Sometimes after a high reading I will do some deep breathing and I can lower it substantially, so in my case I am convinced it is stress related. I'm also having menopause symptoms which can include dizziness.
Best wishes x
Thanks Jackie. Light headedness is often with me but spoke to my gp and she said no way would I get symptoms with those readings. Determined to put off the dreaded bp tablets until absolutely necessary. Now exercising more and taking magnesium supplements. I'm 63 and take thyroid meds so lots of contributing factors. Take care. xx
Me too, I recommend the Couch to 5k for exercise, I've felt loads better since I've been running. Doc also said drink tons of water and reduce tea and coffee as the caffeine plus dehydration are big causes of light headedness x
