clarithromycin 500mg for my chest

I have emphsyema.i keep getting chest infection due to haemophylis infuenzae.This time the doc has given me clarithromycin and i am coughing up all the time does this mean that the infection might at last be breaking down. thank you

Hi Kay1400, if your infection is breaking down that would be great.

But if you are not sure, you could ask your doc whether you might have acid reflux.

Many people with copd have it - i do, and my consultant told me that clarithromycin (and erythromycin) should not be prescribed to people with reflux.

I have had severe increased coughing I couldn't control during my last exacerbation when i had H.I. This was since the reflux got worse and they think this was due to the reflux needing more drugs to control it. I dont want to alarm you but wouldnt want anyone to go through what i went through.

The BLF helpline would help too.
