When I cough the taste in my mouth is awful, is this anything to worry about?

Could be a sign of infection, the last few times I've had an infection I've had a horrible mettalic taste when I cough... I'd send a sputum sample to your docs for checking. Xx

Agree quite possibly infection. I know some, myself among them, can actually tell the difference between Strep Pneumon and Haem Infl mainly be the taste but also by how high temp goes. Hope you have some home abs to take after you sample has been sent in, and hopefully when the results come back they will be the right ones.

Hi I have been get a puss like taste in my mouth for a few weeks now and a persistent cough for the past five weeks which gets worse at night. I put it down to having a very bad head cold just before Christmas. It could also be a side effect as it coincided with a new dose of meds I was put on at the same time. Get it checked in case you do have an infection though.Love Lynda. xx

Hi Knitternan, you dont say what kind of bad taste you get. One thing that causes this is reflux which many people with lung disease such as copd have. Your oesophagus is too acidic and the acid often gets as far as the mouth and does taste horrid. Glad you are going to doc. jean
