Jelly Knees

I have emphysema (20years+) and my breathing has not been so good over the last few days, I dont have a chest infection. I know it sounds weird by my knees have felt quite weak and wobbly as well does anyone know if this has anything to do with the breathlesness? I have never felt like this before.

I don't know if this helps but i aways know i have a chest infection on the way because i get hip pain - the worse the pain the worse the infection. Even tho i expected to be rushed to the local looney bin i asked my doctor if they where related - i mean, the lungs and hips are not connected. She told me that the chances are, because of my age, i have the beginnings of osteoarthritis and usually my body doesn't feel the pain as it is relatively strong but because i am starting to get an infection my body has no immunity to fight the pain.- the other thing it could be is your medication - but get it checked out just to be on the safe side.

Thanks krazylady, what a strange thing the body is. I have been on the same meds for 16 months now so don't think it could be that but I am going to rehab on Thursday so will ask the nurse then.

Polly, not only do I get the jelly knees occasionally, but I also have tremor in my hands sometimes, so much so that I can't hold a cup of tea without slopping it over the sides. I've been told it's one of the side effects of the steroid content of my inhaler.

:)

Hi elian, I have recently started to have tremor in my hands, especially when I have to sign anything or pick small things up. I have been on the same meds for a long time have you?

Hi Polly, in the early days of diagnosis I experienced a weak leg feeling or times when my legs did not want to work any more. For me it was like the oxygen I was breathing wasn't getting to the extremeties quick enough. My breathing was also very difficult at that time and I was easily exhausted on exertion.

It could be that something else is going on with you with the other symptoms you are describing (tremor in hands etc) or it could be the long term effects of the meds I guess, but really I think you should get the doc to check you out and describe the symptoms to the doc as you have done here.

Hope you find out what's going on and it passes soon. Take care.

Let us know how you get on.
