High volume concentrators

Nobody seems to know why but I've ended up in hospital on 15l/min. They have finished iv antibiotics and are going to reduce my oxygen level and see what happens. Then i can go home to hospital bed, commode etc.

I don't think home concentrators can flow that much but a dr said maybe i could use two, one up my nose maybe on 4l/min and as much as i can through a mask. It that feasible? My blood pressure and oxygen are good just in bed, but if i do anything dramatic like get out of bed to use the commode, they drop like a stone. Oromorph works very well and very quickly, maybe that's the answer?

Hopefully they can get that flow rate down to manageable levels so that you don't have to much around with doubled up concentraters,it will be easier and safer to resolve in a hopsital setting ,wishing you the best of luck with that and i am afraid the comfort of home may have to wait a little longer to acheive the best result for you.

You can tether two concentrators together with a "Y" connector.

So Sorry for you Hun. I remember my oxygen in Hospital and it dropping to 72 as soon as I got out of Bed for the commode. I am an 02 retainer also , so I know when the 02 is too high, which is happening at the moment, No Oxygen Nurses available until after the Lock Down, I requested them before all this happened & was told by my respiratory Team in late February they had no one to Visit. My Consultant ( Phone call Appointment in April) said she couldn't do anything to assist, though she normally would help me. I will have to wait till there are Nurses available. I need my Blood Gases doing, and to Carry on as I know what I'm doing !!! I am on 2 lts instead of 3, I can't turn it up otherwise the oxygen retains carbon Dioxide . I am using my Steroid Based Inhalers as Normal, But Going all out on Ventolin, Just do what they say, best to come down from 15 lts, it does take time, but your in the best place for control. Love from a Very Wheezy SOB Friend. Stay Safe Hun. XXX C.

Hi My Dear Buddy, Thank You. Yes, in & Out with 2 Exacerbations with Pneumonia, I was in for 23 days with the last one. Then my two Bronchoscopy's when I had the valves inserted. As Amy said last Month during my Phone Consultation, I have to remember I am now on Quality of Life medication, as no more can be done. So. I like to encourage any one who is feeling Down, That they have so much to do to maintain their Lung Capacity. I find it is a little more difficult now as my Lungs have deteriorated. When the Sun Shines, Then I shall also. Love n Hugs to You & Chom my Dear Friend. Stay Safe, Stay Well. XXX C.

Hello Inamoment , 👋

I'm really sorry to hear you aren't doing very well at the moment. May I ask what flow you were on before you were in hospital? I have no experience with high flow oxygen but I have read of people who use two concentrators. And I'm sorry I have no practical advice except to make sure the oxygen supplier has all this in place at your home before you go home. I hope they find out why you have suddenly become so poorly. I am thinking of you and hope you feel better very soon.

Love from me.
